When we get a night off.. and I mean a night with no kids, gigs, events, or prior commitments, we take advantage of every moment the night brings! We visit as many places as we can, support our other musician friends, eat great local food, and visit local galleries. This one particular night, we were at the house, enjoying a glass of wine, and taking our time getting ready. To give you a visual, Katie is doing her make up in the mirror, singing and dancing around the room, while I am playing acoustic guitar on the bed. Our typical Friday pre game activities. This particular evening, I was playing around with ”contemporary jazz” chords (think weather channel only with sideburns). Katie immediately came up with a hook and a melody. Within 2 minutes we had a very catchy little ditty. There really seemed to be no room for actual words, as the phrasing and groove was already infectious and fun! Throughout the evening, the song kept coming up in conversation, melody, and laughter. The words morphed into a scat of “lie dye dye -uh -oh…” Now, how could it be any more profound than that? Sometimes joy and contentment transcends words!
“Joie de Vivre” is French for “Joy of Life”, we thought it would be a very fitting title. Maybe it will even inspire YOU to dance down Main Street with the one you love!
